On July 30th, local time, tsunamis have been observed in various parts of Japan, with the highest wave reaching 0.5 meters. A tsunami current flowing against the river channel was observed at Ishinomaki County’s Kawazuchi Bay.
Earlier that day, the “Unified Geodetic Bureau” branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences announced on social media that the magnitude of the earthquake that occurred near the Kamchatka Peninsula on the 30th had been revised to 8.7, describing it as the strongest earthquake in the region since 1952. The Japanese Meteorological Agency had already issued tsunami warnings to various locations that day.
