[Report] According to reports from the Associated Press and other media outlets, former Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, announced in a statement on July 30th that she will not run for governor of California in 2026.
“In recent months, I have been seriously considering whether it would be appropriate to ask Californians to allow me to serve as their governor,” Harris stated in her announcement. “After careful consideration, I have decided not to run for governor this time.” She also expressed her anticipation for a fresh start, listening to the voices of the American people, helping to elect those who are courageously striving across the country, and sharing more details about her own plans in the coming months.
The Associated Press reported that Harris’s decision leaves room for her to participate in the 2028 presidential campaign. The report mentioned that after losing the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Harris spent several months privately contemplating a choice between running for governor, running for president again, or stepping away from election politics.
According to a March report by CBS News, sources revealed that Harris is “seriously considering” running for governor of California.
