On July 30th, local time, Manuel Omeh, the Minister of Interior of Angola, reported that the unrest that occurred across the country had resulted in 22 deaths and 197 injuries. The current situation regarding public order has stabilized.
The National Association of Taxi Drivers in Angola began a three-day strike on July 28th, protesting against the increase in fuel prices and adjustments to taxi fares. The strike led to traffic disruptions and road closures in several areas of the capital, Luanda, as well as in the provinces of万博、本格拉和威拉.
Omeh stated that the Ministry of Interior is making every effort to restore and maintain public order. Currently, the public transportation system in Luanda Province has resumed operations. He emphasized that the government of Angola will spare no effort in maintaining national public safety to prevent any incidents that could disrupt normal life. As of now,
a total of 1,214 individuals have been arrested for participating in destruction and robbery.
