The Myanmar Broadcasting and Television Station reported on July 31 that the Myanmar National Defense and Security Council announced the formation of a new federal government and the National Security and Peace Commission. In the newly established government, the Prime Minister position is held by Wu Nuosu, with General Min Aung Lay no longer serving as the Prime Minister.
On July 31, the Myanmar National Defense and Security Council convened in Naypyitaw, deciding to lift the national state of emergency from August 1, ending any further extensions.
In February 2021, Myanmar’s acting President Min Ruey declared a one-year state of emergency, transferring national power to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The Command Headquarters subsequently established the National Management Committee, with Min Aung Lay serving as its chairman. Myanmar has subsequently extended the state of emergency multiple times, with it lasting for four and a half years. (Reported by Lin Xi, CCTV)
