On July 30th, local time, the Ukrainian National Security Service announced on social media that it had arrested a spy who was collecting and transmitting military intelligence assisting Russia in launching air strikes against Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets and the “MiG-2000” fighter jet.
The National Security Service stated that its anti-military espionage department, with the assistance of Sersky, the Chief of the Armed Forces Commander, arrested the spy. The spy is a Ukrainian Air Force lieutenant colonel flight instructor and is currently undergoing pre-trial investigation by the National Security Service.
Preliminary investigations by Ukraine indicate that the spy was simultaneously executing multiple tasks ordered by Russia, including information related to Ukrainian F-16, “MiG-2000,” and Su-24 fighter jets as well as information about the airports where these aircraft were parked. To increase the success rate of the airstrikes, the spy also provided an operational report for a “mixed” attack to the Russian side. The spy communicated with Russian intelligence personnel via anonymous email and transmitted intelligence through encrypted chat.
