The Special Prosecution Investigation Team in charge of investigating the suspicions related to former First Lady Kim Jong-hee arrived at Seoul Detention Center on August 1st to execute a warrant for the arrest of former President Yoon Suk-yeol. The arrest operation was unsuccessful due to Yoon Suk-yeol’s firm refusal.

On the morning of August 1st, around 9 AM local time, the special prosecutor and investigators from the Kim Jong-hee Special Prosecution Investigation Team made their way to Seoul Detention Center. They initially attempted to persuade Yoon Suk-yeol to voluntarily leave his holding cell, but he refused this request; subsequently, detention center guards attempted to enforce coercive measures on Yoon Suk-yeol, but they were also unsuccessful.
After Yoon Suk-yeol twice refused to be summoned for investigation, the Kim Jong-hee Special Prosecution Investigation Team applied for a warrant for his arrest to conduct an investigation. On July 31st, the court issued a warrant for Yoon Suk-yeol’s arrest. (CCTV Reporter: Zhang Yun)
