Cailian Press, August 1 – The three major U.S. stock indexes collectively closed lower, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping by 0.74%, the Nasdaq Composite down by 0.03%, and the S&P 500 index falling by 0.37%. Popular technology stocks experienced mixed results, with Meta soaring over 11%, Microsoft up nearly 4%, but their market capitalization did not surpass $40,000,000 at the close. Arm fell more than 13%, Tesla dropped more than 3%, and Google and Broadcom both declined by more than 2%. Leading in declines were semiconductor equipment and materials, as well as weight loss drug stocks, with Novo Nordisk dropping nearly 6%, KLAC falling by nearly 5%, ASML dropping more than 3%, and Eli Lilly and Pfizer both declining by more than 2%. Figma, a design software giant, saw its share price rise by 256% on its first day of trading.
