[Report] According to a report by the “Warzone” website in the United States on July 31, Ukrainian forces recently used drones to drop electric bicycles, rescuing a Ukrainian soldier who was trapped about one mile (approximately 1.6 kilometers) behind Russian military lines.
The report mentioned that the rescued soldier was identified as “tank operator,” and had been alone in the battle for about five days. His unit captured footage of the rescue operation and posted it on YouTube, a video platform. At the beginning of the video, a soldier is seen monitoring the situation through a drone and giving commands to the “tank operator.”
The report described that subsequently, the video showed a drone dropping an electric bicycle to the “tank operator,” but the first attempt failed due to the drone being shot down, and the second attempt failed due to the bicycle being too heavy. The third attempt succeeded in delivering the bicycle, but the “tank operator” was hit by a mine just a few hundred yards away from where he got the bicycle. After the explosion, the “tank operator” sustained minor injuries. Ukrainian forces eventually managed to rescue him and transport him to a shelter. The “tank operator” eventually returned to the shelter with another bicycle dropped by a drone.
When reporting on this incident, the “Business Insider” website stated that it could not independently verify the authenticity of the aforementioned video. The “Warzone” website analyzed that although such events are extremely rare, overall, using drones to rescue soldiers is becoming increasingly common, and both Russia and Ukraine are increasingly relying on unmanned ground vehicles for rescue operations.
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has attracted multi-party competition.
