[Report] According to a report by CNN on August 1, two insiders revealed that the Pentagon plans to conduct its first major test of the “Golden Dome” missile defense system before the U.S. presidential election in 2028.
The CNN report mentioned that one source told the media that missile tests are usually arranged far in advance. Currently, it is understood that the “Golden Dome” system’s first major test will take place in the fourth quarter of 2028. The report stated that preparing for the above-mentioned test with three years still presents a “difficulty,” and technically carries significant risks.
CNN also noted that another source indicated that the aforementioned test might just be “the first phase” of the “Golden Dome” system’s development plan. What needs to be done now is to quickly advance the plan and other related tasks.
As of the time of this publication, no official response from the Pentagon has been made regarding the aforementioned news.
On May 20th, President Trump released a development plan for the “Golden Dome” missile defense system, stating that the plan would be completed before his term ends in January 2029. Some believe that the “Golden Dome” plan could exacerbate the risk of militarization and arms race in outer space.
