Lula attends the opening ceremony of a Chinese car factory in Brazil: “Brazil welcomes you with open arms”

According to Reuters, Brazilian President Lula, on the 15th local time, attended the opening ceremony of a factory belonging to Chinese carmaker Great Wall Motors in the state of Sao Paulo and stated that Brazil has always been open to business cooperation and welcomes businesses to expand in Brazil.

In a video screenshot posted on his social media platform on the 16th, Lula said, “Trust the Brazilian government. Those who want to leave, please do so. Those who want to come, we welcome you with open arms.”

Lula mentioned that in the past, car manufacturers such as Ford and Mercedes had decided to scale back their operations in Brazil, but he welcomed the arrival of new businesses.

In his speech, Lula also criticized the US measure of imposing a 50% tariff on Brazilian goods, stating that Brazil is facing “unnecessary turbulence.”

Reuters, citing a press release, reported that Great Wall Motors Brazil aims to produce 50,000 vehicles per year and expects to create over 2,000 jobs in the future as it exports cars to Latin America.
