On August 15th, U.S. President Trump met with Russian President Putin in Alaska to discuss the Russia-Ukraine conflict and other issues. It is reported that Trump handed over a letter written by his wife, Melania, to Putin.
According to reports, Melania mentioned the plight of children in Ukraine and Russia in this private letter written to Putin.
Two White House officials revealed that Trump personally delivered the letter to Putin when they held talks in Anchorage, Alaska on August 15th.
Born in Slovenia, Melania did not accompany Trump to Alaska.
Melania made public the content of the letter on social media on the 16th. She wrote in the letter, “Every child holds the same quiet dream in their heart, no matter whether they are born in a rural area or in a grand city center. They dream of love, hope, and safety from danger.”
Melania also wrote, “As parents, we have the responsibility to cultivate the hope of the next generation. As leaders, the responsibility of raising children is not limited to the comfort of a few people. Undoubtedly, we must strive to create a world of dignity for everyone – let every soul wake up in peace, and let the future itself be perfectly guarded.”
She also wrote, “To protect the innocence of these children, what you do is not only beneficial to Russia, but also to all humanity. Such a bold idea transcends all human barriers, and you, Mr. Putin, have the ability to realize this vision today with your pen. The time has come.”
