In addition, regarding all the details of ending the conflict, Zelensky plans to further discuss with President Trump in Washington on Monday (August 18th). Zelensky pointed out that European countries must be involved in the whole process to work with the United States to provide reliable security guarantees for Ukraine. He also mentioned that both sides discussed the positive signals released by the US in terms of safeguarding Ukraine’s security, and Ukraine will continue to coordinate positions with all partners and thank everyone who provides help.
US President Trump and Russian President Putin held a meeting in Anchorage, Alaska on the 15th local time. The meeting lasted for about 3 hours, and both sides said that the meeting was “constructive” and “fruitful”, but no agreement was reached on issues such as the ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian and European leaders were not invited to this meeting.
