Due to the refusal of Canadian airline flight attendants to comply with the federal return-to-work order, Air Canada has suspended its scheduled resumption plan. The company announced in a statement that flights would resume on the evening of the 18th, and about 240 flights originally scheduled for the 17th have been canceled.

Air Canada and the Canadian Public Employees Union had previously negotiated for months over issues such as salary and benefits, but failed to reach an agreement. From the early morning of the 16th local time, more than 10,000 flight attendants at Air Canada went on strike, and all flights were suspended.

Air Canada announced earlier on the 17th that it would gradually resume operations that evening. Subsequently, the union stated that they would continue with the strike, writing in their statement “We hope that Air Canada will return to the negotiating table to reach a fair agreement.”
