
According to a report by Japan’s National Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) on August 18th, two Japanese men were shot dead in Manila, the capital of Philippines on the 15th, local time. The Japanese embassy stated that Japanese people have recently encountered a series of gun-related robberies in Philippines, and called on Japanese people in Philippines to be vigilant.
The report stated that the two Japanese men were shot dead by masked gunmen who were waiting nearby as soon as they got off a taxi. The gunmen took away their belongings and escaped quickly on a motorcycle with another man. The local police are currently investigating their whereabouts.
Images of the fleeing gunmen and their partner captured by surveillance cameras. In addition, Tokyo Broadcasting Company reported in its news that, according to the memories of local residents, the gunmen had been “waiting for two hours” at that location before committing the crime.
Currently, the Philippine police have been strengthening patrols, but there is no more information about the whereabouts of the gunmen.
