On August 20th local time, Belgian telecom operator Orange issued a statement announcing that the company had suffered a cyber attack at the end of July, with data on 850,000 customer accounts accessed.
The statement said hackers had breached a system containing information such as names, phone numbers, SIM card information, PUK codes, and tariff packages. However, the company stated that key data such as customer passwords, email addresses, or financial information had not been leaked.
The telecom operator said it had reported the incident to the relevant authorities and filed a formal complaint with the judiciary. (By Song Liang, CMG)
