Since the onset of the rainy season on June 26th, monsoon rains have caused 750 deaths nationwide.
According to the latest statistical report released by the Pakistan National Disaster Management Authority, of the 43 victims, 20 were from the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 11 each from the southern Sindh province and the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region, and one from the southwestern Balochistan province.
The Pakistan National Disaster Management Authority said that the main cause of the large number of deaths was the collapse of houses, flash floods, landslides, etc. caused by heavy rain. It is expected that there will be continuous rainfall in the next few days, reminding residents in disaster-prone areas to take preventive measures.
From June to September every year, Pakistan will encounter heavy monsoon rainfall. The rainstorm causes floods, leading to infrastructure damage and casualties, especially severe damage to low-lying and rural areas.
