On the 22nd local time, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a statement indicating that the report showed that more than 500,000 people in the Gaza Strip were suffering from famine, and it was expected that the famine would spread to the provinces of Deirballah and Khan Younis in the next few weeks.
Given the increasing number of deaths caused by hunger and the rapidly deteriorating situation of severe malnutrition, UN agencies such as the WHO emphasized that comprehensive humanitarian response measures should be taken immediately to stop the famine at all costs.
By the end of September, more than 640,000 people in the Gaza Strip will face catastrophic food insecurity, and another 1.14 million people will be in an emergency situation. Food supply in Gaza remains severely restricted, and the number of severely hungry households in Gaza in July doubled compared to that in May. (Reported by Zhu He, CCTV)
