On the evening of the 21st local time, it was reported that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that he had instructed to immediately initiate negotiations on a ceasefire in Gaza to release all Israeli personnel who were detained, and to end the conflict under conditions acceptable to Israel.
According to another report from the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz, Netanyahu is working to approve a plan to take control of the Gaza City.
Israel and Hamas have been conducting a new round of indirect negotiations on issues such as a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of detained personnel in Doha, the capital of Qatar since July 6th. On July 24th, the United States and Israel recalled their personnel involved in the ceasefire negotiations in Doha, resulting in a temporary suspension of the negotiations. On August 18th, Hamas issued a statement confirming that multiple Palestinian factions, including Hamas, had agreed to a latest proposal for a Gaza ceasefire agreement put forward by Egypt and Qatar.
